Fathers Day Message from Karyn |
|
June 21, 2009 Dear Dad, It's difficult to think of you without thinking of your sense of humor. I appreciate you taught me to tease and be teased. A good sense of humor is so important to help deal with life and endear you to others. As a teen living in the Holstein house, I remember you would call me up to your room and ask me to hand you the remote or change the channel. I find myself doing that same thing to the boys. They don't appreciate it either, but I think of you with fondness when I am teasing them like that. I also appreciate your passion for education. I am happy that college was not an option. I never once thought of my future without college. I appreciate that you have always encouraged my boys to seek a college education as well. It's funny to be part of a family where I use the word "only" when I refer to my Bachelor's degree because everyone else has so many! Both boys are planning to attend college and don't see it as an option. When we talk about it they use the words "when" I go to College. Before car seats were mandatory, I used to sit on the front bench seat of the car with my arm around your neck. I like to picture that and it brings a smile to my face. We were destined to be buddies since the day I was born. I love the relationship you have with the boys. They adore you and love being at your house. They love their Grandpa Hunt! Thank you for instilling such a great work ethic. It has served me well over the years. Why else would I work 11 hours a day while only being paid for 7.5? All joking aside, I do appreciate your teaching me to work hard and how to be a valuable employee. Another skill I admire is your ability to "interview" people to draw them out. People enjoy your questions and interest in them. It makes them feel important. I am grateful for the traditions you started when we were young that we still enjoy as adults - specifically our Labor Day tradition to "The Stairs." Well, I am a few months late in getting this posted so I wanted to get
it sent off. Happy Fathers Day I love you! Karyn |
